From the Head of School

At The Langley School, we teach our students so much more than how to read, solve a math problem, speak French, or use a microscope. By nurturing, supporting, and academically challenging our students, our inclusive community builds quietly confident, independent thinkers who flourish as learners and individuals. Academically, socially, and emotionally, Langley prepares students for a life of intellectual engagement and responsible citizenship.

Split into three divisions – Primary , Lower , and Middle – Langley is an independent, coed day school for students in preschool through eighth grade. We are a dedicated, caring community of faculty, staff, and parents working toward a common goal: to discover, amplify, and embrace the talents of every child, every day.

Since our founding in 1942, Langley has had a strong child-centered focus, with innovative and differentiated teaching tailored to the different learning styles of our students. Our hands-on, experiential learning brings our rigorous and challenging curriculum alive and enables a child to explore. We also emphasize the ethical and social development of our students. Banners throughout the campus remind students of Langley’s five core values: respect, kindness, honesty, trustworthiness, and citizenship. Frequent community service projects teach students the importance of giving to others, while numerous speaking and performance opportunities help them build self-confidence.

"By nurturing, supporting, and academically challenging our students, our inclusive community builds quietly confident, independent thinkers."

Step onto our 9.2-acre campus and feel the magic in each classroom as students explore, debate, experiment, problem solve, and think in creative ways. Our skilled faculty present an integrated, innovative curriculum of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, modern language, fine arts, and physical education that encourages risk-taking, cooperative learning, and persistence.

While this Web site will give you a glimpse of what Langley is all about, it cannot fully capture the excitement, happiness, or dynamic atmosphere you feel on campus. Please come and see this special place for yourself.
