Academic Enrichment
Field trips and assemblies bring Langley’s curriculum to life and provide students with a more well-rounded education. By visiting a historical place, petting an animal, or listening to a guest speaker, students gain hands-on knowledge of the world around them.
Whether visiting area museums, Arlington Cemetery, the National Gallery of Art, Mount Vernon, the U.S. Capitol, the Library of Congress, the National Zoo, a local farm, a nature preserve, the Clara Barton house, a news station, or an animal hospital, teachers carefully plan each field trip to coordinate with classroom lessons.
Frequent assemblies and workshops featuring guest speakers stimulate students’ curiosity on a variety of subjects. Recent visitors include a fireman, astronaut, poet, children’s author, historical novelist, mathematician, journalist, holocaust survivor, Maasai dance troupe, bluegrass band, and primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall. By sharing their passion for writing, science, or music, for example, these accomplished speakers inspire our students to excel and find their own life’s passion.
