Pat Bush Library
Langley’s Pat Bush Library is a source of information, ideas, and enlightenment for students in preschool through eighth grade. By offering a broad array of print and online resources – including more than 20,000 print volumes, more than 30 magazine subscriptions, and a variety of online reference resources – the library promotes a love of reading to all Langley students while supporting curricular research needs. Through weekly library classes, the librarians connect with students individually and offer a personalized approach to reading.
Younger students enjoy weekly story time in the library’s Castle Room, which features beautiful murals painted by past parents. The librarians and students also use the Resource Room, a classroom with SMART Board technology, to conduct research classes. A magazine reading area and individual study carrels offer students a quiet place to read or study. Centrally located PC computers are available for student and faculty use. Accessible on campus or remotely, the library catalog and online resources are available to students, faculty, and Langley families.
Each year, the library coordinates Langley’s visiting authors program, bringing renowned children’s authors and poets to campus for special assemblies and workshops. The library also hosts two annual school-wide events to promote reading: the Book Fair in the fall and the Book-A-Thon in the spring. In addition, the library staff preserves Langley’s rich history through the school’s archives. A dedicated group of parent volunteers undertakes numerous jobs to provide valuable support for the library program.
