Applying to Langley

In this section, you can learn about the application process, download materials, and obtain all the information needed to apply to Langley. Whether you’re applying to our Primary, Lower, or Middle School, below you’ll find the necessary steps to guide you through the process. Parent Campus Tour and Interview
Individual tours can be scheduled on regular school days from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from September 2007 through January 2008. Please call the Admission Office at (703) 848-2782 to schedule a tour.
Application
The application and $75 application fee for the 2008-2009 school year must be postmarked no later than January 18, 2008. Please note that Langley does accept AISGW's Common Application.
Recommendations and Transcripts
Teacher recommendations and transcripts must be sent directly from the applicant’s school or teacher and must be received no later than February 1, 2008.
Required Testing
- No testing is required for applicants to the preschool class.
- Parents of children applying to junior kindergarten through grade 5 should schedule an assessment at a professional evaluation center. For additional information, see the list of evaluation centers.
- Applicants to junior kindergarten, kindergarten, and grade 1 who are five years old and younger should take the WPPSI-III.
- Applicants to grades 2 through 5 who are six years old and older should take the WISC-IV.
- Applicants to grades 6 through 8 should take the SSAT test. The SSAT will be given at The Langley School on December 8, 2007. Students must pre-register with SSAT (www.ssat.org) and know that Langley’s school code is 4507.
- Results of all assessments must be received no later than February 1, 2008.
Applicant Visits
- Children applying to preschool through grade 1 will be scheduled to visit in groups on designated days in December through February.
- Students applying to grades 2 through 8 should plan to visit Langley during one school day between December 2007 and February 2008. This visit will consist of one half school day spent in class with the student’s current grade and an admission assessment given in the afternoon.
- Visits will be scheduled once an application has been received.
Notification Date and Enrollment
Letters regarding enrollment status will be mailed in mid March. Enrollment contracts confirming acceptance of enrollment are to be returned by April 2, 2008, with the required nonrefundable deposit amount of 10 percent of the student’s tuition.
Financial Aid
Langley welcomes applications for financial aid. Funds are allocated on the basis of need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) and The Langley School Financial Aid Committee. SSS application forms can be obtained by calling (703) 848-2782 or by going to www.nais.org. Copies of the SSS forms and required attachments for Langley are due no later than February 1, 2008.
