Emergency & Closing Policies

The Langley School generally follows Fairfax County Public School policy on school openings and closings during inclement weather, but will issue our own notification via the media outlets below. When school is closed for the day due to weather, Club E.D. is also closed.

If Langley is closed or delayed due to weather or emergency, the school will:

Alert WRC-TV (NBC/Channel 4), WJLA-TV (ABC/Channel 7), and radio station WTOP (103.5FM)
Record a message on the school weather line, if circumstances allow (call 703-356-1920 and press “5” for updated school closing information)
Post the information on the homepage of the school Web site at www.langleyschool.org, if circumstances allow

If Langley closes early due to weather or emergency, the school will:

Alert WRC-TV (NBC/Channel 4), WJLA-TV (ABC/Channel 7), and radio station WTOP (103.5FM)
Activate the phone tree and LINK (Langley’s e-mail notification system)
Record a message on the school weather line (call 703-356-1920 and press “5” for updated school closing information)
Post the information on the homepage of the school Web site at www.langleyschool.org

If Langley has a delayed opening due to weather or emergency, the school will follow the procedures below:

PS-AM and JK-AM: If Langley opens one hour late, PS-AM and JK-AM hours are from 8:50 – 10:50 a.m. If Langley opens two hours late, the hours are from 9:50 – 11:50 a.m.
PS-PM and JK-PM: If Langley opens one hour late, PS-PM and JK-PM classes will run on the regular schedule from 11:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. If Langley opens two hours late, the hours are from 12:45 – 2:45 p.m.
JK Lunch Bunch: The JK Lunch Bunch program will be cancelled in the event of a delayed opening.
Club E.D.: Club E.D. is not open in the mornings and will not be available during a delayed opening.
