Lightning, Langley’s beloved leopard mascot, loves to spend his summer vacations off the coast of Tanzania, romping amid the lush forests of Zanzibar. This summer was no different. But when Lightning returned to campus, something quite peculiar happened.

Lightning was astonished and rather shocked when he saw all the construction going on. He’d left a picture-perfect campus, but returned to a new building beginning to climb to the sky. In his excitement, the disruption left him a bit out of order. Well, very out of order, and he developed a serious case of spoticcups. This condition is like hiccups, but when mascot leopards get them, they lose a spot with every hiccup.

Well, Lightning couldn’t seem to stop spoticcuping – and before long he was completely spotless! Lightning needs you to help get his spots back. We can’t let the school year go on with a spotless leopard mascot. So who better to help him than the folks who have never let him down before – the Langley community.

Langley’s 2007 Annual Fund Drive is here, Building a Legacy One Spot at a Time. We have high hopes of returning Lightning’s spots, even bolder and more plentiful than before!

A life-size statue of Lightning will mark the progress of the Annual Fund and will live happily ever after on campus. Every participating Annual Fund family will get to sign a Langley “spot” and place it on the statue. With Lightning’s spots returned, the statue will be permanently sealed and will preside over all kinds of campus events including play-ground activities, good luck ear scratches before athletic events, and class and team photos.
