The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, is currently seeking a flex/extended day & Summer Studio teacher.

The Flex, Extended Day & Summer Studio Teacher works in three distinct areas at Langley. As a Flex Teacher during the school year, they help execute daily lesson activities in our in-house substitute teacher system. In Extended Day, which is also during the school year, they work as a member of a collaborative team to provide supervision and activities for students who stay past the end of the school day. In Summer Studio, which takes place in June and July, they provide support, supervision, and instruction in our early childhood summer camp program. This is an 11-month full-time position that includes a competitive starting salary, paid time off, and other generous benefits.
Essential functions, duties, and responsibilities:
- Covers classes for grades PS-8, delivers the curriculum and executes the lesson plan as directed by the teacher (Flex).
- Plans and executes after school programming from the hours of 3:00pm - 6:00pm (Extended Day).
- Maintains optimal physical Extended Day classroom spaces in accordance with licensing requirements.
- Provides teaching and programming support in Summer Studio.
- Supports the school’s Mission, Core Values, and Commitment to Belonging in all areas of their work.
- Ensures appropriate management of students in classroom, Extended Day and Summer Studio environments.
- Interacts in a positive, helpful manner with all school constituencies including employees, senior administration, students, and parents.
Qualifications/requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Teaching experience required.
- Proven classroom management skills required.
- Elementary / Secondary school experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
