Thank you for exploring our website and expressing your interest in living Langley with us. The photos and programs described throughout our website reflect a typical Langley experience. For the 2020-2021 school year, we have modified our programs and policies to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff.

Similarly, we have made adjustments to the standard admission process as outlined in the steps below. Please note that while the admission deadline for the 2021-2022 school year has passed, we will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis and will process the next round of applications in mid-March as outlined below.

Submit application for admission

The application deadline for the 2021-2022 school year was January 15, 2021. Should you wish to complete an application online after January 15, your application will be processed in mid-March after the first round of admission decisions have been made.

To be considered for the preschool program, students must be three years of age by September 1 of the year they start school. Students applying to junior kindergarten and kindergarten must be four and five years old, respectively, by September 30 of the year they start school. Students applying to grades 1-8 are admitted to grade levels appropriate for their development.

Schedule student visit and assessment

For the 2020-2021 admission season, we are modifying our application process to include in-person, small-group visits for rising preschool, junior kindergarten, and kindergarten and virtual student visits for rising grades 1-8.

Preschool, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten: Langley’s safety policies and procedures will be in effect for these in-person, small-group visits which will be conducted at times when our current students are not on campus to reduce interactions. Once we have received your completed application form, we will reach out to schedule your child(ren) for an on-campus visit.

Rising preschool visits will be 45 minutes long and will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
Rising junior kindergarten visits will be 45 minutes long and will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, and Friday, January 22, 2021, both at 2:00 p.m.
Rising kindergarten visits will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, and Friday, January 22, 2021, for one hour, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Grades 1-8: Once we have received your completed application form, we will reach out to schedule two meeting times. The first will include a student visit during which your child will join classroom activities and lessons virtually and meet other students. For rising grades 2-6, the visit will also include a self-paced lesson. To help prepare your child, this visit will last one hour for rising grade 1, 1.5 hours for rising grades 2 and 3, 2.5 hours for rising grades 4 and 5, and a little under three hours for rising grades 6-8.

Separately, we will schedule time for the student academic assessment, which will be one-on-one time where we will work with your child virtually to complete a math and reading test.

Complete required testing

No testing is required for applicants to the preschool class. For the 2020-2021 admission season, we are waiving testing requirements for applicants to junior kindergarten.

Parents of children applying to kindergarten through grade 5 should schedule an assessment at a professional evaluation center. For additional information, see the list of evaluation centers.

Applicants to kindergarten and grade 1 who are 5 years old and younger should take the WPPSI-IV.
Applicants to grade 1 who are 6 years old should take the WISC-V.
Applicants to grades 2 through 5 should take the WISC-V.

Applicants to grades 6 through 8 are not required to submit testing. However, if you would like to provide supplemental information about your child, we recommend the WISC-V for this current year. We will also accept the SSAT and ISEE. Students wishing to take the SSAT should pre-register with SSAT (www.ssat.org) and know that Langley’s school code is 4507.

Submit teacher recommendations and transcripts

Teacher recommendations and complete transcripts must be sent directly from your child's school or teacher to The Langley School. Please let us know if you are unable to reach your child's school at this time.

Once you have submitted your child's application through our admission portal, you will find instructions to electronically request teacher recommendations directly from your child's current teacher(s).

For Preschool, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten: Recommendations and transcripts are only required if your child currently attends school.
For Grades 1-5: We require at least one teacher recommendation (from your child's current teacher) and a complete transcript.
For Grades 6-8: We require two teacher recommendations (one math and one language arts from your child's current teachers) and a complete transcript. If your child has the same teacher for both subjects, please submit a second recommendation from a different teacher.

Note: Please feel free to submit additional teacher recommendations from past years if you feel that teacher can provide a more comprehensive assessment of your child.

Transcript Release Authorization: Print and sign this authorization form and e-mail it to your child's current school. The school should then send your child's complete transcript directly to The Langley School Admission Office at admission@langleyschool.org. Please Note: Transcripts should include at least two years of reports when applicable.

Langley welcomes applications for financial aid. Funds are allocated on the basis of need as determined by Financial Aid for Student Tuition (FAST) and The Langley School Financial Aid Committee.
