How do I contact the Summer Studio Office?
The Summer Studio Office can be reached by phone at (703) 356-1920 or via e-mail. If no one is available to take your call, please leave a message and a staff member will respond as soon as possible.
How old does my child need to be to attend Summer Studio?
Campers must be three years old by September 30, 2024, to attend Summer Studio.
Does my child need to be potty-trained?
Yes. All campers attending Summer Studio must be potty-trained. We understand that accidents may happen and ask that children ages 3-5 years bring an extra change of clothes to keep in the classroom. We are not able to enroll campers in pull-ups.
What forms do I need to complete in order for my child to attend Summer Studio?
The following forms must be submitted to the Summer Studio Office prior to your child’s first day of camp:
- Proof of Identification Form (must be completed in person by a legal parent/guardian)
- Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Form
- Medication Authorization Consent Form completed by a parent/guardian and physician (only if prescription medication is required)
- FARE Form (if applicable)
If your child attended The Langley School for the 2023-2024 academic year, you will NOT need to resubmit the Proof of Identification or the Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Form unless an update has been made.
How do I complete and/or submit the required forms?
You can complete and/or submit the required forms at the Summer Studio open house in May 2024.
Can I tour the campus before the first day of camp?
Yes. Summer Studio will host an open house in May 2024.
Can I add more classes after I have registered my child?
Yes, if space is available. To add more classes to a completed registration, email the Summer Studio Office.
The class I would like to register for is full. How do I place my child on the waitlist? How are we notified if a space has become available?
Due to the popularity of our classes, waitlists do occur. To place your child on the waitlist, you must register for the specific class waitlist. There is no fee for being on a waitlist, nor is any credit card information required. We cannot take registrations or hold spots over the phone. Please know that as spaces become available, they are filled in the order in which they were registered for the waitlist.
Should a space become available, you will be notified via email and/or telephone to confirm interest in the available spot(s). If you decide to enroll your child in the available spot(s), you will need to complete your registration by paying the deposit and/or full payment online. There is no penalty should you choose not to enroll.
What are the chances of my child getting into a waitlisted class?
It is difficult to predict if or when a class change or cancellation may occur as we receive class changes and cancellations up to the first day of classes.
When does registration close?
Registration for each session closes on the following dates:
- Week 1: June 7, 2024
- Week 2: June 14, 2024
- Week 3: June 21, 2024
- Week 4: June 28, 2024
- Week 5: July 5, 2024
- Week 6: July 12, 2024
What is the refund or cancellation policy?
Parents/guardians must inform the Summer Studio Office in writing, through this form if they are withdrawing their child from any class. If a cancellation is made at any time before May 1, 2024, all payments, minus the non-refundable deposit ($25 process fee), will be refunded. No refunds will be granted for withdrawals after May 1, 2024. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable between classes, siblings, and other programs offered by The Langley School.
There are no refunds for absences and there is no provision for make-up classes. No refund will be granted in the event of dismissal for inappropriate or unsafe conduct.
Can I request a friend to be in my child’s class/group?
Summer Studio will make every effort to accommodate requests for campers to be in the same group as a friend or family member who is registered for the same class or age group as we know how important this can be to our campers. However, requests are not guaranteed.
Do you have themes for each week?
Yes, we do have weekly themes:

How will my child find his/her classes?
Campers are supervised at all times and will be directed to their classes by staff members.
Do you offer extended care?
Yes. Our Extend the Fun after-care program runs from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. daily for campers in preschool to grade 1 for a weekly charge of $125. There is limited availability. You may register for the week. Please see Camp Extras when registering.
Do you have a nurse on staff?
Yes. Summer Studio has a registered nurse on campus during the camp day.
What do I need to do if my child needs prescription medication?
In order for prescription medication (including EpiPens) to be administered to a camper, a written Medication Authorization Consent Form must be completed by a parent/guardian and the child’s physician. Also please fill out a FARE form.
All medication must be in the original container, with the child’s name, the name of the medication, and the dose of the medication indicated on the prescription label. All medication will be kept in the nurse’s office.
The Langley School requires all parents/guardians to provide the school with at least two EpiPens (epinephrine injectors) if they have informed the Summer Studio Office that their child has a potentially life-threatening allergy. If medication and documentation are not provided, the child will be sent home and not permitted to return to Summer Studio until all materials have been submitted. Medication must be picked up at the end of Summer Studio.
What should my child wear to camp?
Summer Studio encourages campers to wear clothing that is both comfortable and conducive to learning. Campers should dress in a style that reflects modesty, self-respect, and sensitivity to others. We encourage you to label all of your child’s belongings.
We ask that campers not wear shirts that are form-fitting, sheer, or low-cut or bottoms that contain wording or graphics on the backside. For safety reasons, we ask that you not send your child in flip flops, Crocs, roller sneakers/Heelys, or any kind of backless shoes as they are not recommended for any activity.
We require that campers always bring a full change of clothes (including socks and undergarments).
What should my child bring to camp?
Summer Studio encourages campers to bring the items listed below each day. Please label all of your child’s belongings.
- Water bottle
- Backpack or bag
- Lunch, if full-day attendance
- Snack
- Change of clothes
Does my child need a snack?
Yes. Campers participating in a morning class should plan to bring a snack. Summer Studio is a peanut-controlled environment. Campers can not bring anything in their snacks that contains peanuts, peanut butter, any peanut products, or products containing peanut oil. Please label peanut substitutes accordingly to avoid any confusion.
Does my child need lunch?
Campers staying for full days need to bring lunch. Summer Studio is a peanut-controlled environment. Can I walk my child into camp?
To help with your child’s transition into their day, parents are not permitted to walk their child to class.
Can I stay and observe my child’s class?
To assist your child in transitioning quickly, we ask that you drop off and do not stay. Oftentimes, a parent’s presence can be distracting to some children.
What is your policy for inclement weather (heat or rain)?
Summer Studio has an inclement weather and emergency procedure plan. Indoor spaces are available. In the case of extreme heat, activities are modified and outdoor time is limited.
What if my child needs to leave early or arrive late?
If your child is late to arrive, please walk him or her into the Summer Studio Office located in the Betty Brown Lower School building and sign in. We ask that parents/guardians not take a child directly to class. If your child needs to leave early, please contact the Summer Studio Office so we can ensure that your child is ready and waiting for you in the Summer Studio Office.
When can I line up for carpool?
You may begin lining up for carpool drop-off and pick-up no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the designated times below:
- Morning drop-off: 8:00 a.m.
- Mid-Day pick-up: 11:30 a.m.
- Afternoon pick-up: 3:00 p.m.
Can I park and walk in to pick up my child?
We are not offering park and pickup. You will need to pull through our carpool line at pickup. To buckle your child please pull forward into the main parking lot to buckle your child.
What should I do if someone else is picking up my camper?
Any person (including parents) picking up a camper from Summer Studio must be authorized to do so on the camper’s registration form. Please know that they will need to present a photo ID to the staff member present. Therefore, please bring a driver's license or other photo ID each time. Additionally, any changes or modifications to a camper’s authorized pick-up list must be submitted to the Summer Studio Office in writing.
How do I inform Summer Studio of a playdate arrangement?
If your child is going home with a friend or is bringing a friend home, a written authorization (via email) from BOTH families is required 24 hours in advance.
I am running late to pick up my child. What should I do?
Please contact the Summer Studio Office by telephone at (703) 356-1920 or via email as soon as you (or the authorized pick-up person) know you will be late. Please see below for additional information:
- Mid-Day Late Pick-up: Campers will wait in the Summer Studio Office until picked up. Parents/guardians will be charged the Extend the Fun drop-in fee of $20 per 15 minutes.
- Afternoon Late Pick-up: Campers not picked up during afternoon carpool will be sent to Extend the Fun and parents/guardians will be charged the drop-in fee of $20 per 30 minutes.
- Extend the Fun Late Pick-up: Extend the Fun closes promptly at 5:30 p.m. A late fee per pick-up is assessed after 5:30 p.m. Between 5:30 – 6:00 p.m., charges are $25 for every 15 minutes or fraction thereof. After 30 minutes, charges increase to $50 for every 15 minutes or fraction thereof.
Do you offer transportation? How does it work?
Yes. Summer Studio offers cluster-stop bus service in McLean, Fairfax, Falls Church, Reston, Oakton, Great Falls, Arlington, and Vienna. Busing options are morning, afternoon, or round-trip. Registration is for the entire week. For questions about summer busing, please email the Summer Studio office and the Transportation office. Transportation registration can be added during the regular registration process. There are no refunds for cancellations or absences on the bus. If no adult is present at the drop-off location to receive the camper, he or she will be brought back to The Langley School at the completion of the route, and parents/guardians will be charged the extended care drop-in fee-see above for pricing.
Where is lost and found located?
The lost and found cabinet is located in the entrance to the Betty Brown Lower School building. All items remaining in the lost and found cabinet at the end of each week will be held for one week. After that week, all items will either be donated to charity or discarded. Summer Studio is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We encourage you to label all of your child’s belongings.
