In place of our annual Day of Giving this year, Langley is coordinating a school-wide “Share the Love” effort to honor and thank local community helpers and first-line responders. On February 14, our school community will provide breakfasts and lunches, stock compassion carts, and send valentines to the following partner organizations: McLean Fire Station, McLean District Police Station, Inova Health System, and Fairfax County Health Department Vaccine Clinic at the Government Center.
Here’s how students and families can get involved:
- Make Valentine Cards: Along with the meals and other treats, we will send each partner organization handmade valentines from our students thanking them for the important role they play in the community. On February 7, students will receive blank cards on which they can write notes of thanks and drop into a collection box in their classroom. In addition to cards that will be filled out in the classroom, we encourage families to make valentines together.
- Donate: Thanks to the more than 60 families who already contributed, we have reached our fundraising goal! This will allow us to provide breakfasts and lunches, stock hospital compassion carts, and send valentines to our partner organizations. If you would still like to make a contribution, any additional funds will go toward Inova’s compassion carts.
