Our varsity and JV basketball teams made Langley proud as they competed in their season-ending tournaments in the Capital Athletic Conference. Here's how each team fared:
Girls' Varsity: The varsity girls started strong and had a great regular season, finishing 11-2 overall and earning the second seed in the CAC tournament. On February 27, Langley defeated Congressional 27-18, securing a spot against top-seeded Westminster in the CAC championship game, a rematch of the 2017 final. This year, Langley came out strong and took control of the game from the start. The girls led the entire game and pulled away in the second half, defeating Westminster 31-17 to secure the CAC championship.
Boys' Varsity: After an up and down season, the boys entered the CAC tournament as the sixth seed. A 32-19 win over Westminster in the quarterfinals set up a semifinal against second-seeded Congressional. Langley played a strong game and won 31-23. In the final against regular-season champion, Sheridan, Langley fell behind early, but rallied late to get within two points in the last minute. Sheridan held on for the victory, earning Langley a second-place league finish for the second consecutive season.
Boys' JV: The JV boys had a strong regular season and earned the third seed in the CAC tournament. In the quarterfinal matchup against ICS, Langley played a strong game and won 35-21, setting up a semifinal match-up against seventh-seeded Green Acres. In a close game, Langley pulled away late to win 33-20. In the final, Langley came up short against a strong Sheridan team, falling 42-20 to earn second place in the CAC.
Girls' JV: The JV girls earned the sixth seed in the CAC playoffs after a good season. In the quarterfinals, Langley faced Congressional in a tough, back-and-fourth game, but came up just short in the end.
