Karina Nicole Gonzalez, author of The Coquies Still Sing and The Churro Stand, came to Langley for presentations with grades 1-5. Her books highlight themes of Hispanic heritage, service work, and community resilience after disasters. Karina discussed the background for The Coquies Still Sing, including her connection Puerto Rico (the setting of the story) and the impact of Hurricane Maria in 2017. She also read the story aloud, sharing insights into her process of developing the book.
