To complement the sixth grade’s water, atmosphere, and Chesapeake Bay ecology science unit, students enjoyed a hands-on experience aboard the Mildred Belle, a Living Classrooms Foundation ship. While taking a unique look at the Potomac and Anacostia River watersheds, they learned about the water cycle as they tested water chemistry, trawled for marine life, conducted biological studies, and navigated using nautical maps – all while building leadership and teamwork skills.
