Sixth-Graders Test Water Quality

Sixth-graders spent two full days working with Calleva staff on the campus of The Madeira School September 22 and 23. In addition to team-building activities on a ropes course, students also assessed the water quality of the Potomac River watershed as a complement to their hydrology unit in science. As they tested the water quality for acidity level, nitrogen, phosphorus, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and salinity, they learned about the water cycle and the significant role humans play in contributing to and controlling water quality.
