Students Take Part in Pi Day Activities

On 3/14, math classrooms around the school celebrated Pi Day with creative activities that introduced Pi and demonstrated how this important number is used in meaningful ways in many fields. For example, third-graders tested whether the circumference is always a little more than three times the diameter by measuring different circular objects, fourth-graders estimated the age of trees on campus by calculating the diameter using the tree circumferences, and fifth-graders determined their hat size by calculating their head diameter using their head circumferences.
