Plays and Musicals
Cultivating public poise and joyous self-expression
Building on our formal drama program which begins in fifth grade, Langley offers our oldest students the culminating experience of participating in two main-stage dramatic productions per year, one of which is a musical. Middle Schoolers grow in confidence, poise, and leadership ability as they contribute to every aspect of these productions as a cast, crew, or pit orchestra member.
Whether performing as actors on stage, assisting with sound and lighting, overseeing the action as student directors, working on props, makeup, or hair, or handling backstage operations, students learn the value of teamwork, build strong bonds with their fellow thespians, and discover what goes into producing a professional show – all while balancing their academics and other after-school commitments.
And for some, the poignant experience of participating in these often sold-out productions sparks a passion for the theater that continues long after their Langley days are over.
